Hi guys new on here so be kind i have a amd xp 2000 + and would like to know if i can ramp it up safely in the bios for a bit of extra speed? my tune up utilites tell me its a palimino

YES you can overclock it but what are you going to overclock it with ? more info about your setup pleas

You are gonna struggle with a pali anyway. Best thing to do is to give it a bash and see what you get. Drop the multi and raise the fsb, if your hardware allows it.
Dont go over 55 degrees.

Hi guys thanks for the reply only just got back on here had bit of trouble with me firewall not letting me in
Ok what my setup is is a matsonic ms8308e mobo with 512md sdram, 120gb hdd , onboard graphics sis, basic i know but its a start , whats easiest way to ramp it slightly in bios,

Never heard of matsonic, but i guess its some derrivative of another make. The easiest way to gently ramp up is via upping the cpu FSB in BIOS a few Mhz and reboot. If you go too far it wont load into windows or becomes unstable.
Speed is worked out as follows: multiplier*FSB
If the FSB is too high then you need to drop it a level and up the multiplier 1 notch (via BIOS or board dip switches)
Keep you cpu temp <55'C and cpu voltage <1.85V (done similar to multi) and ou should be ok
Also - lock AGP and PCI to 66&33Mhz respectively. They are normally 1/2 & 1/4 of cpu FSB (133Mhz). by upping the FSB you may need to change divider setting to keep them around their defaults
