a neighbour said to me that another neighbour had two filters in line and it was causing low connection speeds for the rest of us in the road.
is this possible as i noticed a small increase when one was removed,or is it coincidence?

Oh bless your neighbour!

I'm a BT broadband engineer and I can assure you that you could have 1000 filters on your line and it make no difference to anyone!

Golden rule is to try to get your router as near to your main socket (NTE5) as possible then have a master filter, so you can feed your extensions from this one point and thus do not need any other filters.

I also recommend the new iPlate which shields the line from electrical interference.

17" 1.83 ghz PPC iMac and Hackintosh 10.5.4 dual booting with Win XP on a Dell Inspiron 6000.
