A work colleague brought in her families laptop, which had been infected by a virus circulating via facebook, this laptop has four user accounts set up. After installing a new antivirus and doing some cleaning up everything seems ok, except that one of the user accounts cannot connect to the internet. They all use IE which I updated to IE7. The laptop is running XP with sp3 installed.
Can anyone give me some pointers as to what may be wrong?
Many Thanks for any help given.

As the other accounts work, I'd backup all the files on that one user, delete the account and create a new one and put all the files back.
Not ideal, but the quickest solution. I would do a check within that account using the anti-virus you have used. Which one did you install? (Out of interest)

Hi
Thanks for the reply. She had Avast installed, but this had not been updated for over a year! I removed this and installed AVG, I had to burn it to a disc on my own pc and install from that. It picked up 2 viruses and 4 Trojans. I have also installed windows Defender and SpyBot S+D.
Again, thanks for the help.
