My wife has just got herself a new laptop which has windows vista home premium pre installed. All of the time I am putting on the software that she needs DRIVESENTRY keeps popping up and counting down how many free changes I can make. My question is what is drivesentry and is it any good. Having had a quick look on the net it says that it is free software but the countdown implies that it will soon be asking for payment. I do not want to duplicate software I already have installed. Thanks

To me it looks to be free. It seems to delay writes to the HDD untill you have set applications on its white list. If I were you, I'd uninstall the version it came with and download a version.

Whether it's any good, I don't know. As long as you have a decent set of security applications to protect the system, I wouldn't bother with it myself.
