as the title suggests.  i am running xp SP3 and was listening through my headphones plugged into the cases front headphone port.  after unplugging them i tried listening to something else through the speakers.

they worked fine before, the volume is okay as i have tried it all levels.

cheers

Hi Marc , i was just wondering if your speakers got muted in sound properties ,
might be worth a try.

From my memories of old stereo systems the headphone socket diverted the sound to the headphones when you plugged them in. When you unplugged them a sprung contact re-made the connection for the speakers. Try (gently) plugging in and unplugging two or three times and see if sound is restored to the speakers.

Also check the front port again. Sometimes the mechanism gets stuck. Try plugging the headphones in again and gently wiggle to try and free it.
Might be worth trying another device at the rear in case of a fault there

Edit : Oops too slow

Cheers Chris
