Daughter's PC went glitchy then restarted.
After restart BIOS couldn't see either the DVD drive nor the Hard Drive.

Its an mATX board with only one EIDE channel.

I've tried changing the cables, unplugged the DVD drive and tried another Hard Drive but BIOS still can't see anything. Tried changing to manual from auto in BIOS - still can't see them.

Faulty power supply maybe on one of the rails? The fan still works from the same power lead. Tried using the other power lead. Still no joy.

Maybe the actual EIDE channel is knackered? Try a controller card maybe? Not got one - worth buying one?

Comments welcome.
I'm stuck.

Daughter needs to play World of Warcraft.

Talk to me peeps.

Eggs.

Try resetting the BIOS. If that doesn't work and you have tried a new cable and drive, and made sure the jumpers are in correct position for a single drive, I would lean towards an knackered motherboard/port.
If that is the case I would be inclined to change the motherboard rather than add a controller card to a faulty board as something else might fail

Cheers Chris

Maybe if I used a controller card just to confirm the theory?
Would that work?

It's your choice really as I've stated my view on it
I would at least try them in another PC first to check they are still working. If they were taken out by the PSU it is possible that they would both fail at the same time

Cheers Chris
