I am trying to Dl a working copy of Mythbuntu. I have tried a couple of direct DL's with no joy. Both took 2/3 hours and got corrupted.
So I thought I would try Bit Torrent for the first time. I got it from the official site (I hope!) and installed and ran it, went to the Myth DL page and clicked the correct DL.
But its soooo slow. ETA is hovering between a few days and several weeks.
Is there anything I can do about this?

Odd. I can get a linux distribution in a matter of minutes when using bittorrent.
Few things...
Did you get the torrent of Mythbuntu from the website?
Have you port forwarded? I don't know if the original/official client supports Upnp but if the port on the router isn't opening, traffic will be slow. Check the settings and see if it gives a port to open on your router.
Try uTorrent - It's a better torrent client.
Alternatively, try using a download manager. Flashget or wxDownloadfast are good or if your a firefox user, DownThemAll!. They download via port 80 (web browser) so work nicely (as they aren't torrents).

I DL'd from bittorrent.com, then started the softwear up then clicked DL ISO torrent on the Myth website.
After I posted this I noticed that Bit Torrent has closed. I started it back up again and it seemed it was still DL'ing. But it has since closed down a couple of times, no error messages I just notice its not there anymore.
Last time I started it back up again it seemed to have gone backwards in how much had been DL'd and had something going on about checking it. I am just letting it get on with it but having to restart it now and again. At one point it had ETA down below 2 hours for a bit but am back to 1 day plus now
What you say about port forwarding:
I dont really know what this is. I have gone 'into' my router and clicked on the port forwarding option then at random I clicked custom port forwarding and there is a check box with a tick next to the word 'enable' so unless I need to do anything else I am stumped on that one.
Edit still I am down to only just over 2 hours ETA now....
Argh, Bit Torrent closed again.
Edit: I am being a bit dim, it seems. It must be I have clicked to do what I though was reduce Bit Torrent to the task bar but it dose not goto to task bar it goes into the icons in the bottom right side of the screen, I just didnt notice. umph.
Got an ETA of 31 more mins now. So its still a bit slow. But then, I am on a naff ADSL line. Still, maybe it could be quicker?

Looks like it works well enough, but in case it's any use.
The client needs to be set up for your connection and to make use of the particular connection, peer discovery, download/upload ratios etc. idk what kind of connection you have, but check any client FAQ/setup info on the bt website.
There may be a step by step to forwarding ports on your general model of router or modem on the portforward.com website. Failing that enable uPnP in the router settings and in the bt client's config and torrents should still perform well enough.
Check any third party software firewalls you have running don't interfere, or if certain settings cause a problem.

very rough estimation:
1mb speed 1gb data = 1 hour
Your upload speed,if set to max may be hampering your download speed too. If you can find a setting in the client to set max upload speed to 80% of your isp upload speed this may help.
BT works on a seeds and peers priniciple,in theory the more seeds the faster the download, anything over 30 seeds should be half decent speed assuming the connected peers are not choking their upload speed.
I agree with the previous poster, utorrent is a far better alternative as a client and a visit to www.portforward.com may be worth while to sort your connectability out.
If you are still struggling with bittorrent im not sure but there are probaly some public ftp servers which is going to be a lot easier, just google "ubuntu ftp download" and install a free ftp client (i think mozilla does one),or use a free trial such as flashfxp, which will resume a broken download easily....or theres the easiest route of them all with firefox 3 and a direct http download which will also resume broken downloads now i believe.
