Hi all,
A friend of mine is having some problems with a laptop, and since i recommended it to him, it seems to be my problem as well now!
The laptop boots up ok & generally works fine (if a little slow, but that could be attributed to all the bloatware he has on it!)
However the display is set automatically to the VGA out port!

He can get around it by pressing Fn+F5, but everytime the PC re-boots it reverts & he has to change it again!

I've talked him through starting into Safe Mode to try & eliminate the drivers as a problem & he swears he hasnt touched any BIOS settings - doesnt know where they are!

Anyone have any pointers on what it could be?

Many thanks.
Dave.

does the bios output go to the laptop or to the VGA?

if its VGA i would hazard a guess at the bios settings as the driver has not been loaded - might be worth a look

Some laptops, espcially those with Intel graphics, come with an application (seperate from the main driver) that lets you do things like set up dual displays.
I'd have a look for something like it and a box that's been ticked.
Of course the box will have ticked itself if that turns out to be the problem
