| Hi Folks after lots of troube with my pc I am finaly getting there . the only (SAYS he touching wood and holding a rabbits foot with fingers crossed ) is that when I add my creative labs sound card to the asrock 4 core dual vista MB it disables the realtec audio ie realtec is not seen any where on the PC and I am unable to use the front panel inputs , mic and Hphone. If I remove the sound card and just use the on board sound card every thing is OK . I previously had it all working with the sound card . If with the sound card in place I check the bios setting and enable on board sound the system freezes on re boot . apart from opening the window and seeing how far I can fling the sound card any ideas? regards to all Mike

| Just to clear it up: you are saying that you once upon a time had this mobo and this sound card working with the front inputs and then it just stopped working?

| Yes It used to work fine with the pci sound card . but I had a big problem with the MB and ended up resetting the bios settings In thought I had every thing back as previous but obviously something is adrift in one of the setting somewhere / Mike

What was the big problem with the MB? maybe it is connected to the current problem?
Check all the settings, but there should only be a few even slightly relevant to the current issue.
I know it sounds daft but are you sure that all the connectors are going to the right parts of the sound card? Have you tested the onboard sound chip to see if it works with the front plugs?

| Hi the origional problem started when I set the pc to hibernate and it turned out I had a faulty keyboard the system would not fire up the HDD and I ended up clearing the cmos and restting every thing ot I thought everything . Long story lots of tears and anguish but more or less got there eventually . With out the additional sound card everything works OK ie the front mic and headphone setting and when I unplug the headphones it reverts back to the speakers etc with the sound card installed you cannot see the realtek audio manager its just not there . As I said in the origional message it might be time to open the window and see how far I can fling the sound card . Thanks for taking the trouble to reply regards Mike

So, you get the job done with the onboard sound. Thats good news. To get the card working the first thing I can think of is to unistall the card drivers, uninstall the onboard sound drivers, restart but dont let it boot.
Get into BIOS and make sure onboard sound chip is turned off. Then boot and try installing the cards drivers. Reboot and see if its working.
Anyone else got any ideas?
