| after about half an hour a p3 700mhz i have keps shutting off, the heatsink on the processor is a passive one and there is a case fan blowing directly onto it. it just shuts off, no beeps, no warnings. it just shuts off and then goes back the the memory test post screen. the mb is an msi ms6156, slot 1. im at a loss heelp meeeeeeeeee!!!!!

Souns very much like an overheating issue. Either that or a faulty motherboard.

| thanks. it turned out to be the ram, it was badly faulty, and memtest stumbled at the first hurdle. the stick is now destined for the great computing heavens of dead kit.

Very unusual for faulty RAM to cause a system shutdown. Blue screens are the norm.
