Although theoretically possible viruses aren't really an issue on Linux at the moment.
The worst I have heard was a phony email getting users to download a fake 'update' that compromised their system: the moral being get updates from official sources in the usual method.
There is anti virus software available but most people do not feel the need. The Linux system of permissions also make it hard for any virus attacks to succeed - they would need root (aka supervisor/administrator) permission to be able to run & do any serious harm; the moral here is only run as root when *absolutely* necessary for important admin.
No defragging, no anti virus. Ah joy. Do keep downloading those security patches though.
Once again the swimming pools of life had been tainted by the incontinent toddlers of fate

Anti-virus can be important on Linux systems, but mainly for those that serve files to Windows desktops!
