At the risk of appearing THICK! People keep giving me files compressed using this hideous utility. I've downloaded a trial version of it and can't seem to make sense of what it does. Files seem to be scattered into multiple folders with lots of different files. I'd love Micro Mart to do an article explaining just how to use this and what it's doing? Don't get me wrong, I did manage to extract what I needed but am just not comfortable with this software. I removed it as soon as I'd used it, and unless you can convince me otherwise. I won't touch it again.

At the risk of appearing rude.... Isnt the point of win rar to combine many parts of a program into a single file ?
so when they are unrared they go back to their individual components. Im fairly sure they are only going to a single folder tho' I dont know,,, Winzip on simple mode will probably do the job. Im sure the unfriendliness of the interface is a throwback to Unix days.

I find the easiest way to deal with rars is to save them into a folder on their own, then in explorer right click on them and choose extract to here.

You only need to right click on one of the parts of the multipart set. I tend to use the first one though as a rule, usually *.part01.rar or *.RAR.
WinRAR is one of my handfull of non-freeware 'must haves', other freeware compression /archive utilities will work fine with them too, such as IZArc, Power Archiver and 7Zip.
If you have no intention of using the program to create your own archives, you could also just get the command line freeware version called UNRAR
