Someone I know had the dis-fortune to have the hinges break on their powerbook monitor. I have heard that it is pretty tricky to replace (and apple quote a high price to do it). Has anyone done this and knows how to do it? lol.

I have access through work to information that gives information on how to do pretty much any repair work to a mac.
However I am not sure if you can purchase the hinges seperately as the people we buy apple parts from only supply the screen as a complete module.
I will look into it for you on monday tho and will get back to you.
