Yes, as happens on the first Thursday of every month, there's a get-together in the MM chatroom on 1st December. I'll be there, as will lots of regular forum members, so come and join the fun! Whether you've got a PC-related query you'd like answered or if you'd just like to discuss what's happening on "I'm Not a Celebrity but I Will be When I Get Out of Here!", you're welcome!

See you there! (Newcomers get a free drink at the MM bar, btw.)

Well, there are so many dropping out through injury, they must be making lists of alternative campers. They've got a long-haired lover from Liverpool in there -- why not one from Burton-upon-Trent? Not that I watch the programme, of course.

Well, the Chatroom set a new record tonight - 14 in one place, nowhere to put a drink down, and much good craic was had by all.

The topic was "What I want for Xmas," and apart from AnToeKnee who dreams of a blonde (any blonde) the usual items were suggested - Opterons, twin 7800's etc.
One thing we are unanimous about though is a pressie for Jason.

AN ALARM CLOCK / CALENDAR

Where was he?
14 eager punters waited for the Masters appearance in vain.

Has he been called up to the jungle after all?
Was Stoke-on-Trent struck by the tail end of Hurricane Katrina?
Has he sprung a leak?
Did the (virtual) dog eat his (virtual) homework

We await the excuses with interest.

My sincere apologies to all who missed my appearance in the chatroom. And I missed a record attendance, too!

You're not a million miles away with the hurricane idea, Bob. A couple of days ago we had a storm in Burtopn-upon-Trent and it finally killed off my wireless modem/router (I might have alluded to this elsewhere on the forums). Since then I've been using a crummy USB modem (no wireless) that cuts out about every fifteen minutes. Tonight I couldn't get the damned thing to work at all (not helped by my ailing latop, I'm sure). I'm back on now with a borrowed USB modem. I really need to get a new router!

Sorry, all! I'm a bit gutted, to be honest -- the last one of the year and a record attendance!

Well at least I have the decency to admit I missed it cos I was in the pub at the time!

I'll swap you a working router for one of those Opertons you have stashed away

Well I say swap, chuck in £20 and I'll think about it...

And wasn't that laptop "state of the art" this time last year?

What have you been doing with it

I guess laptops aren't designed for 24/7/365 usage. I mentioned in my column a few weeks back that the thing is on its last legs -- probably get about £25 for it now if I sold it. I hate computers.

Get an IBM. they may be boring but they're built like brick outhouses.

My elderly T20 is used more than the PCs - all 700mhz of it.
512mb and Win 2000 does all I want it to.
