1&1 are famous for this.
I run a biz and had set up domains for all of my team - about 20.
usually once a month I would get a call to say the whole sites were frozen -
1&1 kept mixing up our accouts with other customers or had tried to bill the card I had set up just for this - without sending an invoice.
I also made the mistake of taking them up on their web hosting offer - despite being told it would do what we wanted - it wouldnt and they just tried to sell us a better package.
at one point they even deleted the entire site by mistake and were no help to restore it.
that cost me hours on the phone - on an 0870 number.
In the end I paid money to transfer the domains to another provider - and 1&1 did everything possible to make sure it was as difficult as possible.
I must have started the transfer over 3 times to find they had stopped it.
Dont use 1&1.
