QMD - Quantum Molecular Dynamics :

These cores are apparently the biggest score producing cores available, to be able to get them you need the following:

How can I get QMD Work units? You must have two settings to get QMDs. You must have both the "big WU" flag (allowing for large work units) and the advanced methods flag on.

Aparently these cores are ONLY for P4s due to them having both SSE2 and SSE3 instructions  they can actually run 2 cores at the same time due to HTT. I'm not sure if post Venice core Athlon 64's or Sempron 64's are able to download QMDs but would like all those who get them to add to this post.

Lets crunch all the way to the top 1500

Yes, because of SSE2/3 support, apparently QMD cores are only avaiable to P4 CPUs.

I was surprised this isn't more well-known, but then I though I shouldn't be surprised at all. If it were the other way around, however, and only AMD CPUs could get QMD cores, I'm pretty sure we'd all know.

I'll be trying it out next weekend when my newly built (P4 based) second PC will be introduced to folding.

All Venice, San Diego, and associated Semprons and Opterons all have SSE3 support, of course. None have HyperThreading, naturally.

As far as I can make out Jason, it's the SSE instructions which the QMD requires.

Try running one of your Opterons and see if you can obtain one .

Info will be much appreciated.

What CPU does your laptop use Dr-Jon, P4 or P-M? (can P-M CPU's receive QMD?)

i think mine is a p4, 3 gig not mobile its a couple of years old now

CPUID tells me its a Intel Pentium 4 Northwood mPGA-478 running at 3000 mhz

MMX,SSE,SSE2 but no SSE3 is listed so you dont need SSE3 to get QMD's
