issue 989 page 109 just tried openoffice brilliant it does what it says on the tin.micro mart is responsible for my new build, my first, it workedflawlessly.thanks micro mart
issue 989 cpu article by Aaron Birch, hardcore gamers dont think much of flight simx?. i do, the power required for the latest games is small compared to fsx..an interview with aces studio suggests that the latest update allows the use of 2 cores, 1 main core with approx 20% of the 2 core on scenery texture. that is multi threaded for 8 cores puts the fear of
whichever deity you support into me..my system already weighs more than my fridge. more info please.and which 8 core would you reccomend?:)

Our website is, currently, in a state of flux, is the honest answer. Our new owners will be overhauling it in the first half of this year, but we're keen to get it right, and hence it will take some time. Adding dates to articles is very much on the 'To Do' list.

Now I have read someone here saying he was reading micromart for five years before he discovered there was a forum, I'll stop worrying when I don't know what day of the week it is (unless it is Thursday). But not knowing the date something was written in the magazine does bother me.
Desperate to reduce ballast and avoid having to search though hundreds of stacked back copies, I take to ripping out pages on a particular topic I want to keep. Then they will be handy and together in one place when I do want them later. There is no date on any micromart page and while it is not a lot of trouble to put it on myself( if I know where there is a pen, and one that writes) I wonder why not. The issue number is there but that's not really much help.

I have just been reading some reviews of anti virus and security software on this website. There is no date, no issue number and no version given on any of them, which somewhat limits their value for making a choice now. I think most other magazines have the date on each text page, and reviews on the internet show the date written. Why not micromart?

My mother and sister bought a Viewsonic VA703b 17" tft monitor at the start of this month (A chrissy present for me) and so far I am extremely happy with it. It was bought by my sister from CCL Computers. Even though she did the buying it was my descision as to what, where and how much (£124 approx). I know this is a bit premature considering that pixels can fail within the first 6 months but this is heaven compared to my 17" Viewsonic CRT (another best buy in my opinion). I now have so much more space I don't know what to do with it! The difference is just astounding as I can now play Warhammer, Starcraft and Doom3 without ruining my eyesight and get most of the candy. DVD movies and clips look as they should and I can now sit back in comfort instead of being hunched up. The colours/vibrancy and total all round brilliance is great even at 1280x1024 and I can still read the text! The best ever is that I can now use a laptop in the space recovered (when I have to diagnose problems with those owned by friends). This may be a base unit now but I can highly recommend it as it works out of the box even without a specific driver disc. In my opinion Viewsonic are the best!

Hope ok to post here, been buying the mag for 5 years & only realised recently you had a forum:rolleyes:

I like what i read in the mag, but i sometimes find there seems a lot of advertising though. Liked the article in the current issue on pc stickers & worse websites. As i'm new to the site can i claim a free mug for writing nice things about you all:D

hi i would firstly like to congratulate you on a great mag!!! i have been reading it now for 6 months and find the technical help most useful! i have just one small thing i would like to have a small moan about. As an avid pc gamer i would like to see more games reviews in your mag apart from that keep up the good work!!!!

in the last issue, (issue 900) there was an article about building a gaming pc. as inforrmative and enjoyable as it was to read, i was slightly suprised when i read your criticisms concerning shuttle computers... "Whatever you do, don't go for desktop models or any compact cases such as the shuttle pc's".

i myself am using a shuttle ST20G5 pc, and have 5 games installed onto it, including both FEAR and Oblivion, aswell as deus ex, freelancer and guild wars. all of these are running on full spec and i haven't had any problems yet. just thought you would be interested to know that lil tit-bit of info.

anyway, that little incident isn't going to stop me buying your mag as its great.

more content is always welcome, but it seems just lately you do seem to be spending a lot more time in the pub (possibly proofreading :P ). MM stop publishing articles that are obviously the opinion of some bloke down the pub and sounded good at the time - you are in close proximity (and, without casting any aspersions, potentially consuming) large amounts of alcohol which MAY affect your judgement. and memory of that judgement. ;) climate change no biggy? puh-leeeeeeeeaze... kudos generally though, having read many many many mags in the past, MM is the only one i make extra effort not to miss (well, cpc also, but they are half as frequent as you so half the effort needed!) :D

I can assure you that there's no bias at all. Tests such as these inevitably depend on the hardware we can get hold of for a review, some of which we end up buying in. However, we also cast the net quite wide, as there's usually three or four products that we want to include that we can't get hold of. I don't think that's uncommon across most computer magazines to be honest, and certainly there's no bias at all.

The last acticle on Sck 939 mobo on Issue 853, was biased.

Whats the similarity between The Asus A8N SLi Deluxe and the other non Sli boards presented for the comparism. We need the comparism between the Asus A8N SLi /DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-D /Abit Fatal1ty AN8 SLi /Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI and the MSI K8N SLI Platinum. Clearly anyone buying from this range would only have the NForce chipset. How do you test the VIA and ATI chitset with the NForce 4. Please sit down have a cuppa as this might refocus your thoughts.
