System > Preferences > Advanced Desktop Effects Settings
Scroll down to "animations" ensure it is checked, click on animations.
Double click on the top most effect in the "animation selection" box to edit it.
Then just change the close effect to whatever you want.

Just install the compiz advanced desktop effects manager, endless tweaks can be made in it.

how do you do it ??
i have 8.04.1 ( i think )
any other good tips for effects, or bling ! ??

When you click to close a window it explodes or shatters...Something more fun than disappearing...Has it been done? :)

Edit: Ok found them...lol...Very cool! When I open a window it pops up in flames. When i close it explodes and when I min/maximise it folds/unfolds a paper plane! :D
