After that I had an A3010 and now a RISC PC. Thankfully I can still play all the old 8bit games with WSS's 6502 emulator or Michael Foot's Beeb It. (That reminds me, I'd better check I have the latest version).

RE: BBC game in 1988

Blimey, Clogger!

That takes me back! It can be downloaded from http://www.stairwaytohell.com/bbc/archive/diskimages/Impact/Clogger.zip

You'll need something like BeebEm to play it on Windows or 6502Em to play it on RISC OS.

RE: BBC game in 1988
We're all n00bs till we get the knowledge & skillz, its just that some are n00bier!
I'm the n00biest geek dude! In fact thinking back he was probably one of my main reasons for getting involved in computing. We had a little group of 3 or 4 of us and he was writing an educational game. The idea of the game was that you were a diver and you had a limited air supply. You had to dive down to treasure chests which had numbers in them. Once at the surface you had to put the numbers into different equations to get the correct answer (which was given along with the mathematical functions between the number spaces). Then that gave you a longer air supply to reach deeper treasure chests. We were involved in doing the graphics and sounds. Wow, this brings it all back. They were fun times and i learnt such a lot off that guy, i can't even remember his name now.

RE: BBC game in 1988

No way! I remember playing on the BBC at boarding school too! Used to get in trouble for playing 'key-basher' games like aqua attack which was basically a version of centipeed, and you hammered the enter key as fast as you could!!
Wow... what else do I remember... detonator dan was one of my favourites, so was dive bomber, oh and the teacher used to like x-or which was a puzzle game which got really hard. There was another game which I can't remember the name of where the screen was split in 4, 1 for each character, or 'comrads', and they each had different powers or something... what was it????

RE: BBC game in 1988

Hi, Danny.

I don't recall that game, but I do recall programming in BBC Basic.
In fact, it's still available:
http://www.bbcbasic.co.uk/bbcbasic.html
http://www.compulink.co.uk/~rrussell/bbcwin/bbcwin.html
(Ignore the 'best ever basic' reviewer.
