You definately need a colour CRT. The best display, however, is from a working Commodore monitor. Either a 1901 or an 1084. But finding them fault-free nowadays is becoming increasingly difficult.

The scart is capable of giving two outputs .One down a single wire known as CVBS and another down 4 wires called RGB.

As you would expect the 4 wire RGB will give the better quality . CVBS down the one wire will give a reasonable picture but with coloured speckley bits around characters .

(Obviously you cannot tell from the Scart cable as it has 21 wires in there)

What you have to do is find the RGB switch, there might be two--one on the TV screen menu somewhere and one on the computer-

As far as TV's are concerned a good ole CRT would probably give you the picture you remember, a LCD tv will upscale the image, possibly making it grainier, as they don't generally handle resolution changes (from their native one) very well (a limitation of the technology I'm afraid).

Hello,I recently bought a SCART lead off eBay for connecting my C64.The picture does look better then the picture supplied by the RF lead.But it is still not as good as I remember.

I have a Panasonic LCD HD TV.The TV works great with my PS3,but not so good with the grand daddy machine.

So,what is the best TV/monitor I should be using?.I have seen commodore monitors on eBay,but what do I buy???

Any help appreciated .Thanks
