Gilligans Gold on a speccy emulator. This game was one included on the 'Softaid' tape, which raised money for Africa at the same time as Bandaid/Liveaid...

i generally play kikstart either on my c64 or via an emulator on the pc, i do beleive it was based on the tv show of the same name

Kick Off2 has to be my number one retro-game.

Otherwise I can't resist taking just one more look at Jetpac, Manic Miner Dark Star and Knightlore on the Speccy (where my gaming career began!), Loco, Crazy Comets, Paradroid, Spy vs Spy and Paradroid on the C64, and KO2, Superfrog, Overdrive and Alien Breed on the Amiga.

I am starting to play the Dizzy games on Speccy Emulator, I must admit i like the fact you can save the games.

I'm currently playing Arkanoid on Facebook (Java I think) - it's pretty good. A few bugs that may or may not have appeared in the original, I can't be bothered to check.

I still play Battlezone, Warzone 2100. And a variety of pinmame games.
But really prefer my gaming rigs to have balls!!!! (silver ones), so long time favorite remains Dr Who Timestreams by Bally, i play that most days when I'm on leave and it doesn't need tinkering with.

I installed Beneath a Steel Sky on my Ubuntu Laptop as I found it on the repositories (nto sure if thats Retro or not?)

I also installed a Spectrum Emulator, and was about to start playing the Dizzy games and Seabase Delta (best text adventure I played when I was a kid)

Paradroid... omg.... i used to lose weeks of my life on that game!

and amazingly its available as part of a pack built into what really looks and feels like a genuine C64 joystick that plugs straight into the tv... arrrrgh! more wasted days and nights!

Played Pitfall on Atari 2600 emulator the other day (brings back memories).

wow, Elite, I loved that game. Went on to play Firstencounter, once I got going with it I couldn't be stopped! Lol. Also played a game called Epic, tried recently to get it working on my old 50 mhz sx2 but with no joy! At the moment I'm playing the Dizzy games on a speccy emulator... Ahh, the memories!

Number one is Little Computer People, by Activision. And number two would be, at a guess, Paradroid.

Getting back on topic, I'm currently playing Rainbow Island (C64), Yoomp! (Atari 8-bit), BeTiled (ZX Spectrum) and Star Sabre (Amstrad CPC)... and Delta (C64).

Bumping the thread up...

A long time ago when I was a wee lad I had a C64...still have it in the loft. Although most of the games seem to have disappeared, which is a shame.

I had two games which I'd like to get hold of again; although in two minds. They always say to never relive old memories.

Also, another game where you were a robot, basically strolled around through what looked like an office block...bit of a vague memory though.

Any ideas?

I still occasionally play Elite on the BBC Micro, THE best ever game! I have also played it and its successors on Atari STs, Amigas and PCs, but I keep going back to the original.

well to be honest i think its a bit like centerpeide and asteroids, its pretty awesome tough (if you get the controls set up right (or even better if you have a dual anolog pad) try it for your self.

on Project gotham racing 3 on the Xbox 360 there is an awesome retro game called "geometry wars" and "geometry wars 2", you will find the arcade machines in one of the garges. the game is like asteroids but way better.

Played "Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins" on the Game Boy (original monochrome unit) the other day. Still a very nice game, pushing the hardware to the limit.

The last games i can remember was in the office when we got a mega-drive emulator in, so played sensi soccer and megalomania and cannon fodder.

When i last had the amiga out the attic it was Walker and Monkey Island:)

Played through most of Link's Awakening a while back (deeply strange game), kept getting kicked - well, punched - out of a dungeon by the Buster mini-boss and gave up in disgust. Surely the most annoying game enemy, ever. :angry:
Super Metroid and Zelda:LTTP were great games. Have the earlier FF rereleases for the PS... V is every bit as slow to play through as X on PS2 (which I'm replaying now) but not as pretty - never completed it. :doze:
Played a couple of the Castlevania games and Zelda: Minish Cap for the GBA too - great stuff.
Currently, Earthbound (SNES) and Lunar II (Sega CD).

Still play a game called Raptor which I originally played on a 486 DX 66mhz system many years ago. It works with XP without any patches and indeed has worked on all windows versions. Another old game is Tyrian although this is a poor relation to the above. The last real retro games I played were Underworld and Ultima 8 on the speccy some years ago before I gave the machine and all the games to my neices who trashed it!! I am now left with about 50 Speccy games on tape but no way to play them as I am reluctant to pay the high price for a machine even on Ebay. If anyone wants any specific Speccy games then let me know and I will post for free. :D

Wow, what a lot of fun this game is! Not to sure about the remixes (it's a starbase rave!) But very good none the less. Here's hoping that the non alpha includes mouse support!

secret of mana on the snes, it has to be in my opinion the best(with exception to it's big brother, sieken densetsu 3) and only game that gets an aring on my aging snes

and on the c64 the terminator 2 bundle cartridge, with modern music maker and that weird paint program with 16 true colours and 16 mixed colours

but the best bit of the cartridge if you wobble it out slightly so certain pins on the cart shorts, (or alternatively use the grounding wire on the datacassete to the back of any c64 plug) you get a very strange "emergency game" version of space invaders

if only games (In my opinion) today were as playable old skool ones were i would still be happy (or is it because i cant afford a dogs balls rig lol)

I'm playing Alphaman, home of the underdogs has a review (but no download of it) about it. It's a rouge like game set in a post nuclear fallout era, in new york, which happens to be the entire world.

I'd provide a link to the review and an ED2K download link, but it was removed once.

Barely a week goes by without my playing some Mario or Sonic game -- often on original machines. I've always like 2D platformers.

I've been replaying some of my all time favourite PC games: Ultima 7 (using Exult [url]http://exult.sourceforge.net/[/url]), Starcontrol 2 (now open source and playable on modern PCs: [url]http://sc2.sourceforge.net/[/url]) and UFO: Enemy Unknown.

I've also been heavily into SNES games for a while now (although I never owned a real SNES), especially some of the great Japanese games that have been translated recently, e.g. Shin Megami Tensei 1&2, Front Mission: Gun Hazard, Chrono Trigger and Bahamut Lagoon. When it comes to gameplay and originality I think the old SNES RPGs from companies like Squaresoft still hold their own against the best of the latest games.

For me, it's Astro Nell for the VIC-20 and Legend of Zelda: Link's awakening for the GB. Astro Nell is a nice game, working from an unexpanded machine, and in Link's awakening, I'm up to level 2 ;-). So, what's everyone else been playing?
