(I assume the AGP doesn't apply)

Whenever I go above 3 x 333 x 9, it won't post. I suspect voltage issues, but cannot see how to alter this in the BIOS. I have posted the settings as they stand at the moment (@3ghz) and perhaps someone with more experience would be good enough to help? Any ideas?

RE: SATA2 Drive Keeps Disappearing from BIOS when I Overclock CPU?

Cheers Gunman, lets start ramping it up then eh!?

RE: SATA2 Drive Keeps Disappearing from BIOS when I Overclock CPU?

The SATA controller is keyed into the PCI bus and FSB speeds, so when you raise the FSB the PCI clock goes up as well.

PCI is 33MHz, AGP is 66MHz, and PCI-E is 100MHz.

Pretty much all modern motherboards allow you to lock the PCI/AGP/PCI-E buses to the correct speeds, but sometimes it doesn't work after a certain speed.

I have an old 939 motherboard in my 3rd spare PC, that loses the lock and fails totally above 240FSB.

SATA2 Drive Keeps Disappearing from BIOS when I Overclock CPU?

Chaps,

I was running an old Maxtor IDE and could easily push my Q6600 Quad to 333 x 9 = 3ghz without any issues at all. I can now only get it up to 306 x 9 = 2.7ghz or my SATA2 drive disappears out of BIOS. Drop it down and BIOS sees it again. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Mitch.
