You clearly know what you are talking about, so pardon the obvious, but thinking laterally, you haven't forgot to lock the PCI-E have you? I forgot to lock it recently and my graphics card kept blue-screening Vista. Just a thought.

Agreed. You'd be unlikely to notice even a 20% increase in the real-world, and I can't see it getting to 3.84GHz in a hurry. :)

With my old P5B, I found that with a multiplier of 9 I could never get over 3Ghz.
Multi of 8 and 3.2Ghz no problem.
Never got more as the XMS2 ram would not overclock, not even by 1 :D

As you say, your ram is rated at 800 so very little headroom left.
Is it worth the effort to get a performance increase you'll never notice?

have you tried running on a 9 multiplier, will give your ram a bit more headroom. you could also try upping the n/bridge volts a touch. not trying to be funny but vcore is not the only thing needs changing for a stable over clock.

I never said that I needed to increase the voltage to get just Vista to work I said that I needed the extra voltage to make it stable.

I'm running at an FSB of 400 and a multiplier of 8. The ram is 1:1 with the FSB at 4-4-4-12 at 2.1V (it is rated to 800MHz so little OCing head room)
with the current set up I don't think that I could shift the FSB any higher, because whenever I do even by five or ten MHz the system just BSODs no mater how much I put the voltage up. I'm also using the G0 revision.

i have mine running at 3.375 stable in both xp and vista i dont think that the voltage is the problem especially putting an extra volt through it just for vista! what settings do you have for your ram? have you tried setting the ram manually to 667 in the bios? mine runs at 790ish i think

made no difference to temps for me, the chip is still running at 3.6 regardless of the fsb or multi.
i found no problem running on a 9 multiplier, just did nor want to go past 465fsb.

Sorry to jump in here but @Gunman, will this cut temps on a CPU?, Ive been toying with the idea of lowering my Multiplier and increasing my FSB to run the ram quicker.

Q600 hate using the stock multiplier at high FSB.

Mine is at 3.6GHz, with 450FSB and multiplier 8.

Try that with yours and get back to us.

Q6600 OCing problems

I have got my Q6600 to 3.2 GHz but when ever I try and get it any higher the system just BSODs when I try and log into Vista. I have increased the voltages to get to 3.2 but when trying to shift from that I need to put nearly and extra volt through it to get to the Vista log in page. The temperatures when running at 3.2GHz and folding for 24 straight are 48 c on the highest temperature core and 46 c on the lowest. Any ideas??
