installed,using it as alternative to gpuz to monitor temps atm...i dont think i will fiddle with clock speeds until i get a decent cooler.

Self-control? I had plenty. Kept me on the same card for 4 years! :)

I'll give the Omegas a go as I don't really think the ATI catalyst ones are 4 series ready tbh. Maybe when 8.7 is released it'll be better.

EDIT: The Omegas don't support the 4 series cards yet. The author has not been doing much work on it due to personal issues, but hopes to get back to it soon.

Yes. They remind me of Philips in that respect. They've produced some incredible consumer hardware over the years but totally forgotten to sell either the product or themselves. Do ATI actually have a real PR department? I'm beginning to wonder! :D

Unfortunately the mass see only numbers and hype. ATI could market themselves a lot better...:)

I think that ATI owners and ATI themselves have seen this coming for some time to be honest. ATI have always rendered a different 3D world to nVidia and haven't always captured the same sector of the market. To me, it's like comparing Hi-Fi to audiophile. I dare say that the difference doesn't matter to a lot of people, but I want my PC games and video playback to look better than a high-end gaming console so I go for ATI. :)

PS I reserve the right to change the above view radically and without warning if the prices, benchmarks and real-world evidence from the new nVidia kit wipes the floor with ATI. :D

It's nice to see Nvidia on the back foot for once. Not good for the big dogs to get too confident. It's all swings and roundabouts though just as AMD will more that likely have its day again...:ermm: :D

I admire their total lack of self-control in a way. I also think they've done the right thing if the benchmark figures coming in so far are anything to go by. They are fairly cutting-edge, so just watch these cards blossom as the drivers mature. If the latest ATI Catalyst driver doesn't cut the mustard, try the latest Omega driver. They're kind of in 'friendly' competition. ;)
