I drove them for a living for 5 years on-and-off (between 80,000 and 100,000 miles per year) and the self-detaching belly pan that frisbees off into the distance behind you hitting other people's cars and almost causing fatal accidents is a 'standard feature'. The spontaneous disintegration of the lower cambelt pulley on early 00's diesel models leading to instant and total engine destruction was merely an additional courtesy detail. ;)

Cheers, Slipstreem.

RE: golden oldie - DS3 965P and E6300.... keep it overclocked in this heat or set it to default?

Why did you have a new TV under the engine.
I'd have put it in the boot, much safer.

RE: golden oldie - DS3 965P and E6300.... keep it overclocked in this heat or set it to default?

I'm in Bearwood. Undo the fans and get all the dust away. If your PC is OK then you shoulkdn't worry. Temps of 60+ is when you get worried for a CPU.

For a GPU they are a lot more resilient (4870 was idling at 80C. Just kicked the fan upto 40% and its come down to 50C. Pity I can't find info on any thirdparty coolers for it :()

RE: golden oldie - DS3 965P and E6300.... keep it overclocked in this heat or set it to default?
mattyspurs (28/07/2008)
With the weather like it is do you guys do anything to keep your pc's cool?
Nothing. It's was stress-tested when first built by shutting it in a small bathroom with a fan heater for several hours to make 100% certain that it was stable and everything would stay within limits on even the hottest of days.
Just wondered, at the moment my temps in the pc are around +40c, doesn't help overclocking it so would i be better off resetting to default and turning on Intel SpeedStep and let that cool it all down.
I can't think of a valid reason for ever turning SpeedStep off to be honest. If it's disabled then try switching it on. It will make some difference, especially if your PC sits substantially idle as most do. Mine is still almost silent even in this heat when just surfing and all temperatures are well within design limits as far as I can tell. :)

Cheers, Slipstreem.

golden oldie - DS3 965P and E6300.... keep it overclocked in this heat or set it to default?

With the weather like it is do you guys do anything to keep your pc's cool?

Just wondered, at the moment my temps in the pc are around +40c, doesnt help overclocking it so would i be better off resetting to default and turning on Intel SpeedStep and let that cool it all down.

Im not playin any games or stressing it out at the moment, kinda having a break from my pc at the moment.

What would you guys recommend? do you do anything to keep it all cool?
