'Export' can then allow creation of an archive. Double-clicking on a discrete *.wab archive then invokes wab.exe to display its specific content. Not too proud to admit when I am wrong !
Apologies to all concerned, especially to those who took offence.
Bruce R

RE: Saving a private address book.
Bruce R (07/07/2008)
Hi Phitore :)
You are teaching me some new tricks, because I hadn't realized that Windows was now using a *.wab extension for its wab.exe shared Address Book. Just using wab as the search term will bring up everything with wab anywhere in the name, most of which will be irrelevant :)

Sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs, but clarification avoids confusion :)

RE: Saving a private address book.

Try searching for just wab (windows Address Book) and not *.wab ?;)

RE: Saving a private address book.

Glad it worked :)

RE: Saving a private address book.

Thank you Tippon, I did the search but found nothing.
Good news is they think they have found the XP disc, so I should be able to do a Repair.

Edit to add I am a thickie.:doze:
Refined the search and found everything, moved all to a safe place.
Full credit will be given when they ask how it was done.:D
Certainly one to remember, thank you again.

RE: Saving a private address book.

You could try a search for *.wab and see if it finds it, but I'm not sure what the default location is :)

Saving a private address book.

Is there a way of retrieving an Outlook Express address book from a HDD with a Windows install that is damaged?
I will connect as a slave to try and save some documents, which I have done before but I am not sure on the address book.
Thank you for any help.:)
