If you're considering Be, then check the offers on O2 when your exchange becomes enabled. As they own Be they offer similar packages, though at the mo they are cheaper than Be and offer free connection. These are time limited offers, but they may renew them after they lapse.

Tiscali????.....cough.....SPIT!.....Have been with them since 2003. Since 2006/2007 have gone downhill rapidly, and been disconnected these last 3 weeks. Only just received a new BB modem from them after I got my MAC code from them.......:angry:

Going anywhere with service....Back with BT.......:cool:

Not at the mometn as we owed BT money but I will seriously think on it when we get the next bill in and we are FREE.....

Columbo, have you also got your phone package with Tiscali? I pay £19.99 a month to Tiscali which includes broadband max, phone line rental, and free off-peak calls. I don't have to pay as much as an halfpenny to BT. :)

I would love to get cable but it is not supported in my area, like every other good deal out there.

I am limited to BT or Tiscali (as they are the only other ISP on my exchange)

BT were diabolical when it comes to high users (no problems other than that) so I have had to swich to Tiscali for now (same package, less restrictions and 8.49 for 3 months then £14.99 I have been paying BT 24.99). got my date and all working ok, on current router atm but got thier wirless router today so no problems so far.

Although I got an email from BT today thanking me for signing up to option 2 £22.99 broadband today????? I went mad as no-one in my house has even rang them.

I am with Eclipse at the moment, £14.99 for 8mb (we get 7mb) per month.

Had a couple of problems which were sorted out by their UK call centre in a very quick and efficient manner.
I was with NTL before they became Virgin and we had a lot of trouble with them and their modem. We were even told by their foriegn call centre chappie that he had bluetoothed the modem!
They really did turn into an absolute shower :(
When we told NTL we were going to leave they asked what the reason was to which we answered that the modem was faulty. Only then after many months of complaining did they offer to change the said modem. Needless to say we turned them down.
I cannot recomend Eclipse highly enough - excellent service and excellent support.

Hello Columbo,
A bit of a different approach to all the replies you have had so far. Have you considered cable broadband? Speeds with Virgin Media (and formerly with Blueyonder) have always been very good (less so since the take over but still good). Maybe it might be worth considering?

Sorry matey I only now have seen that Be are not in your area however if you go to the O2 website (they now own Be) you can register your interest and they will text you when the exchange is activated for O2/Be.

As spike says, avoid Tiscali.
My mother used to be with them (against my advice) and could hardly ever get onto the internet, even at silly times in the morning.
She ended getting out of the contract early and is now with Virgin Media (cable) and is over the moon.

Avoid pipex/tiscali just tried to set up the mother inlaws and guess what they forgot to send her a password just a username, dumb asses and she has been on the technical help number for approx an hour with no answer.

Hi, just got connected to Be Unlimited today after being with AOL for several years the improvement is INCREDIBLE! I was advised by Be I would get a 6Mbps connection but it seems much quicker. You Tube does not stutter and I am getting 1200k a second downloads all for £18 a month. Also I have one free static IP. Worth giving them a look mate.

hello col. I have just signed up to bt broadband. they told me that i will not get any speed restrictions even though i am a high user. They also told me that if i go over the fair usage, I will be charged 30p per gig. Now that i have seen your post, Im thinking of changing my mind.

I dont want any package that is capped, although i cant help the old "fair Use" policy!

According to sam knows only Tiscali is enabled in my area? I find that hard to believe?

I'm with Freedom2surf at the moment and they have been excellent over the last three or four years despite being bought out by Pipex then Tiscali.

I have been paying £14.99 per month for speeds up to 8Mb and normally get around 5.5Mb.

The previous download limit was 5gb a month but a quick check on their home page reveals they have dropped the price slightly to £13.99 per month and raised the monthly allowance to 10gb. They have also just introduced unlimited 16Mb Broadband for £19.99 per month.

If you are in the right area you may want to check out Be. They do unlimited broadband up to 8Mb for £14 per month and speeds up to 24 Mb for £18 Per month.

I have Be, pay £14.99p a month, and I'm a high user , but they haven't restricted me at all.
Have a look at Sam Knows to find what exhange your on.
