I await the derisory remarks..but..
I have Talktalk..I get phone calls free..[save certain no`s]free calls to 32 foreign countries..
Line rental inclusive..8Mb download [it is actually 5.4] and 48[?] mb download..for this i pay
£20.49 per month.
I phone my friends in Australia..in USA..and every where..every one in the uk..enjoy a good internet speed..a
"decent" speed on the net with a download capacity i will never need..my line rental is included..?
I have an 18 month agreement ..but so what?
I have been with talktalk for a few years now but have never needed to call for help..everything has
always workrd

I used to be with Eclipse when I was in Cornwall (I moved out and now share a house hence now being with BT). I had a 2Mb connection there, and I now have an 8Mb connection with BT in Southampton. The Eclipse connection knocks spots off the BT one, for speed and reliability. The BT homehub is c**p, I read somewere that the BThomehub is a spin-off of a Thompson modem that wasn't much cop to begin with.

Eclipse might be a little dearer than some, but their call centre is in Exeter. I'd prefer to pay a little more and know that if I get stuck (which didn't happen often) that I can speak to someone in this country that actually does know what their taking about.

With some things is really is a case of getting what you pay for.....

If you can get Be, then I recomended them very highly.

I pay £14:99p per month, up to 8mb and unlimited download.
Never had a problem with them.

I can highly recommend Eclipse.

They have excellent UK call centres with knowledgable staff and the service is also extremely good.
TBH I cannot praise them enough - of the problems we have encountered we have had good quick resolutions.

It costs me £14.99 per month for an unlimited 8mb connection and in my eyes it is worth every penny.

Hi gary, have no knowledge of the home hub, but after 5 years with Tiscali, have had enough and moving to BT. They just seem so much more knowledgeable when you phone them, and Tiscali at the moment is a nightmare, I've had no connection for the best part of a month, and nothing but excuses from their "customer service".....very loose description. They don't seem to listen when describing problem, and just rattle on with the same old jargon time after time...sorry for the part rant........as you say prices are almost like for like and for £15.99 you get 5GB/month, so will do me for general surfing....do more research on both though....:cool:

Hey all, it has been 5 long years since I have had my own internet connection at home and things have moved on since I wast last online.

I have checked out the deals and the 2 that seem 'okay' are the tiscali and BT. Both are approx £8 for the first few months then go up to about £15 (can't find any cheaper). I would like wireless and so the free routers provided is a must, however, I have heard that the BT's home hub is a nightmare and should be avoided. Does anyone have any experience of this or do you think it the hub would generally be okay.

My needs are modest, probably weekend surfing, a little during the evenings and downloading would be minimal - the odd music track or game demo.

Your thoughts would be very welcome.
