hi Sharock lord, I do not know about you getting into the chatroom but get across to Zone labs and get a firewall for gods sake, enable the basic XP firewall first or get a fluffy monthly pc mag with a coverdisc and put a firewall on your machine. Or your next post is likely to be in security and viruses with a question like i have all these popups and my machine is really slow.

i tried the link for the chat room but all i get is that an error has occured and the error has been log

using ie6 ithink xp sp2 no firewall no routers

I just tried to join the chatroom and couldn't. The application got an unexpected error. I'm using Firefox 1.5 under XP SP2. Hpe you can help.

That's all well and good but I still can't see what's going on!

But as it's 1:00 pm, I'm thinking that there might not be anyone in there anyway (get back to work!)

I'll have to try again later with both XP/I.E and Linux/Mozilla.

Ok some good news.

The chat room now works with Mozilla Firefox. Not all functionality is currently supported - private chats are not possible and you cannot change your avatar - but you can now get in and get chatting!

When the next version of the chat room software is released by the developers it should hopefully have improved functionality in non-IE browsers.

Trouble is Dave, 95% of IE users in this case isn't true, so the only people to blame for that is MM, not the forum software programmers.

It's not just the Chatroom either, there has never been any positive response with regards attempts to fix the incompatibility problems with non-IE users on the forums either!

Not just Linux - I use Firefox under Linux and XP and it's not the o/s that's the issue, it's the browser.

Hard to slag off web authors writing for the IE family. I know, I commision websites for customers and have my own for my businesses.
IE is used by probably 95%+ of potential customers. The cost of having the 5% minority dealt with can be onerous.
If it were you paying, would you?

Hopefully this will change over time as people move away from IE, but until the corporates do it'll only be a trickle.
Again, if you were a corporate buyer or IT dept, would you junk the bundled (and supported) browser? I don't think so...

OK, so we know IE has security issues. But behind a corporate strength firewall with locked down PCs and appropriate policies applied it really isn't that bad.

The real world reality bites my friend.
I hate it as much as you do.

Well it doesn't work with Internet explorer for me, after clicking on the link all I get is the framework on the page with the various buttons at the bottom, but I can't see any messages (mind you I can't see the post authors in the forums either which is being discussed elsewhere)

Dear Oh dear Oh Dear, youl'd think that SOMEONE at MM Towers would have mentioned to the software supplier that most of the MM family were far too intelligent to restrict themselves to Internet Exploder!!!

Currently the chatroom only works with internet explorer.

We have been speaking with the company who writes the software and they are hoping to change this in the next version.

Obviously we'll keep you posted on this.

It says that i am connected to the server, but i have yet to see anyone in there don't know if this is correct or false? Also the avatar and help buttons do nothing and the save button just brings up a small window in the top left corner that does nothing so i obviously have some problems.

Running XP Pro SP1 not 2, IE6, Zone Alarm ad and cookie blocker off, and all Spysweeper/Spybot shields down.

Will keep trying but running out of ideas!

No it isn't! at least for me. Same problem as Friendly_guy. Haven't tried with IE (try to avoid that as much as possible)I'm running Opera on W98SE.
Any chance it could be security related, e.g. ZoneAlarm?

Hi, Phil.

Chatting to our beloved Ed last night, was spat out twice in rapid succession by (I think) my isp. BUT, it came up with a message similar to 'someone else is attempting to access...' not sure, as my memory is getting a bit altzheimer. Simon gave me another hint about getting out of the session. Interestingly, it leaves you with another internet session open.

Cannot think of anything else of the top of my head, except it seems to be set up for 1024 x 768. I use 8 x 6 as my eyes are not as good as they were. This of course, means that some info is off screen. My problem, not yours.

This does not happen with IE - which I usually avoid like the plague as compromised and insecure.

Any advice at getting it going on the moz?
