Probably the best racing game ever, for sure the best racer EA have ever made and I dont think they will top it any time soon is.

Wait for it.

NFS Most Wanted.

Why?

The game engine is just terrific delivering its own unique brand of autumn eye candy.

It would seem that the alot of the races are held early AM 6'ish the lighting effects are fantastic and just like real, navigate when you cannot see in an easterly direction. Head west and the clouds blacken and the heavens open.

This game features real actors and Razer, make no mistake is the star, as well as a good actor, He really does have that james bond nemesis about him and hes cute with it.

Talking of cute Mia is the eye candy and she is portraid as the leading star, but she is not, she is put on our screens to take advantage of mens week mindedness and to capture our attention.

once you have gotten over this you will also appreciate the emphasis placed on technology where all of us get to use cutting edge digital communication of the time,

The street fighting side of it with the racers and the cops is just balmy mad fun with way out crazy action.

One aspect the really catches you out early on in the game and is a bit of a shocker is when you are attempting to win a race only to find the cops join in, with alot of laughing and skill you can win the race. Then a splash screen come up saying winner, you sigh with releif, push the enter button thinking this is the end, only to find that the race is over and now your freedom is on the line as you are still caught in a demanding cop chase.

Its a great game with a terrific story.

I guess you can get a new copy from the bargain bucket nower days.

Me im on my second copy, worn out the first one.

I feel like loading it again now, damn.:D

Also going by Drezha's post, surely this should be Eve or something similar... WoW is by no means a must play, a must try, in fact it isn't a must anything, it is simply the largest one (according to the media) at this moment in time.

As for games that people really ought to try, might I suggest a list of 10 NOT big blockbusters, but the lesser known or just simply older games such as the (already mentioned) seminal "Grim Fandango", or a couple of "indie" games (both free, although one is classed as a demo of the still-to-be released Deluxe version) I particularly love, Crayon Physics - http://www.kloonigames.com/blog/ and Desktop Tower Defence (this game is so bloody frustrating! try the 10k fun mode) - http://www.handdrawngames.com/DesktopTD/Game.asp

Now THAT is a list I would be interested in.

Going by the life span of games, Basil, WoW is a veteran in it's own right. It's about 3-4 years old now. While not being the first MMORPG, it was one of the most accessible and user-friendly games, and is still popular today for its ability to run on low hardware, and for just being a very well written game. :)

It is only a must play once you start it.....

I never said it was bad, it was more the fact that its a modern game in the current top sellers.

Rome : Total War? I digress. Going by Drezha's well put point, Shogun : Total War should be the correct game.

Drezha, I think I agree with you. Baldur's Gate is a much better choice. :)

EDIT : Basil, it is a must play. Like you've said, you've never played it, so how can you know that it's bad? Yes, it does eat up your life if you let it, but that doesn't mean it's a bad game.

Next few years are promising me Fallout, Deus Ex and KotOR 3 :D

Too many modern/still in the charts games, where is Xcom/Grim Fandango/Diablo/Homeworld?

URGH! Thats neither a classic nor ground breaking. In fact when I played it, it was hideously boring.

And if you want classics/ground breaking, Morrowind should be there, not Oblivion. And possibly Civ 2 (as I got that one more than Civ3). But that's all my opinon.

However a list of 10 games would be good. As voted for by MM readers and forum users? ;)

Command & Conquer : The First Decade,
Civilization 3,
The Elder Scrolls IV : Oblivion,
System Shock 2,
Neverwinter Nights.

They're probaby 10 of the best games from every genre going. Notice how most of them are classics, or were highly influential. That list is not likely to change in the next few years!

Title says it all really, ideally not just a regurgitation of the years top sellers (mention the Sims in it and I will cheerfully murder you all :hehe: ).
It would be nice to see some older but still good games in it (for example; fallout anyone?).
