True enough, but I'm [i]very[/i] concerned we're going to be sold something that should've been a service pack.

On the subject of service packs, expect a new iTunes and 10.5.4 by mid-July, ready for MobileMe.

I thought the revamped .mac was very interesting! One of the main problems with it previously was that trying to keep a couple of machines in sync was a nightmare and by the looks of things they've gone and solved that problem. This is why I like Apple's products, when they solve a problem they do it in a simple, elegant way that just makes you wonder why nobody did it that way before!

Snow Leopard looks like it will be a good update as well. For the last couple of years they have been throwing new features in to OS X to make sure they are well ahead of Vista. Seems like with all the problems Vista is having and with peoples perceptions of it at a real low, Apple have decided to take a step back and just tweak the little niggles and sort out some of the under the hood stuff. I can't wait :D

as WWDC08 goes.... nothing much happened

new iPhone and Snow Leopard, better exchange support and QuickTime X, quicktime x seems very interesting

Don't be such a spoilsport picknmix! Having checked it out and seeing some of the software that's going to come out for it I definately am thinking of getting shut of my LG Viewty! Oh and iPod, and I guess I won't be needing the GPS I was going to buy either :D

hmmmmm well

i spent alot on my iPhone at launch, and i love it. so new iPhone with 3G is a bit of a no-brainer really seeing as i like the UI and i know (even before it launches) that the only significant difference will be 3G... so logic kinda does it for me.

phone i like + 3g = purchase

Wouldn't it be smarter to actually find out if it's worth buying first? Or is that applying logic where none exists?

I think it depends what you use .Mac for, I had it for website hosting and it actually worked out at an average price when split over 12 months. Obviously that was minus PHP/SQL type backend stuff. But when I packed the site in I didn't renew either. I miss my @mac email address though! :)

The revamp sounds like just what it needs, .Mac has been a kind of thing that you don't [i]really[/i] need for a while they should beef it up and make it a must have.

heh..my .Mac expired recently, I was about to renew..then I saw the price. I didnt renew in the end. Absolutely ridiculous price, "Back to my Mac" is very handy but not essential

in light of Ian's post, I also predict a name change for iTunes, something a bit more universal considering films, software (iPhone SDK) and potentially games are now available on the service, i think a name change might be fitting.

saying that, iTunes is pretty much a house hold name, but i think this will happen.

Yeah! The Newton 2! Would be awesome to have something that you could use as a graphics tablet but also play games, surf the weband have the functionality of the iPod touch! :D

The clearing of the shelves of current iPhones suggests a new model will be released ahead of WWDC, rather than at it.

It's been speculated that Apple may be releasing a handheld games console, but if so, I reckon it's unlikely to be like the DS and PSP. More like a Newton with a heavy emphasis on gaming, with the games downloadable through the iTunes store would be more like it.

If so, I must get one! :D

They have already updated the iMacs only a couple of weeks ago and I may be wrong but I think they have the gfx cards in that you mention??

Yeah I really wish they would update the Mac mini's! They are great little machines but haven't had an update in quite a while!

I was looking at some on eBay and they go for ridiculous prices, even old G4 ones so I don't believe that they aren't popular.

OK so it's still two weeks away (doesn't start till June 9th), but I can't wait! So, put your entries in for your WWDC 08 predictions! Make them as outrageous as you like :)

I'll start with...

1) A Newton-esque device as thin as the iPhone but larger screen and all the multi-touch goodness obviously.
2) 3G iPhone I'd bet on it.
3) New LED based cinema displays.
