I just want to say is, i'm folding when my rig is on :D , which at the moment, is during daylight hours only :)

Keith: What you'll find on your electricity bill, depending on your supplier, are three charging levels.

You'll have the night rate, which usually runs for 7 hours, between 11PM and 8AM. That's charged at around 4p per unit, again depending on your supplier / region.
The day rate will almost always be split in to two tiers:
The first tier is priced higher, between 25p and 30p per unit, and covers the cost of the electricity, as well as some of the admin charges etc. This is usually only in place for a set amount of units per quarter.
Once that's up, you'll be charged on the second tier, which is usually around 10p to 15p per unit, and offsets some of the night rate pricing.

If, like most people, you don't have a night rate, the day rates work in the same way, but with slightly lower prices.
Tier 1 is usually around 20p to 25p per unit, and tier 2 is around 8p to 13p per unit, again varying depending on your supplier and region. Some suppliers will also have standing charges etc. that also get added on.

I linked to the current electricity prices for the standard rates with no night rate here. It might give a little more insight into who's best to change to if you're not on the cheapest deal, and some of the options available. Hopefully we'll all find cheaper electricity, and be able to fold for longer ;)

P.S. There is a price rise on the horizon, it's almost inevitable, so if anyone does decide to look into changing suppliers, the fixed term contracts may be a good idea :)

This is obviously going to depend on what electric meter is installed. My meter individually meters the night and day units and they are charged at the appropriate rate. In some parts of the country you can have a evenings and weekends charging rate , day is one price , evenings (7-12ish) and all weekend is at a lower rate and nights (12-7) is a cheaper rate again. Unfortunately for me , this is not offered in the old MEB region.

Thanks Dave but it's the mobo, Asrock 4coredual vsta, cracking VFM but not the best board for O/C ing.

@Planeman - dunno what m/b you have, but my gigabyte one needed a newer bios before it would behave when overclocking.

Everything seemed fine, started the VM and nothing happened.
Same every single time I tried.
Uninstalled everything, (and clened the registery) re-downloaded everything, got a new licence, makes no difference.
Just wont work.

Windows, tried the Virtual Liinux doodad and it just won't work.
Tried 4 or 5 times yesterday, no good.
Think there's something on my system it doesn't like.

is that a windows smp or Virtual Linux one?

Also , look around on the comparison websites, I've locked in at a fixed price for the next 12 months (warning :look in the small print about notice periods because if you don't give notice 90days before the contract expires they'll roll you over for another 12 months at an exorbitant price and there's sod all you can do about it.)

The way round that Wiz is to have a Q6600 running at about 2.9Ghz and then you only get minimal noise ....enough to sleep easily with lol.

It gets awfully addictive this folding lark. I eased off for a while as my competitive streak was keeping me awake at night through the sound of humming pc's. I have now set a couple of lappy's on the job and maybe I'll stay in the top 100 for a little while. :hehe:

The Amber cores, (if i'm not doing any other tasks) take approx 30secs per frame.. (2500 frames per core)

Just completed my first WU...
My rig hated the Gromacs cores :crying: but seems to really like the Amber cores :D
So hopefully, be able to complete more Amber WU's
