| my dlink router is hard wired to the main computer and recieves internet and email, but the second computer which uses the wireless connection via a usb adapter, connects to the internet ok, but will not recieve email,only the message. err avg pop3 proxy server. cannot connect to mail server. error no 0x800ccc90. i have checked and rechecked account and password details and am getting nowhere. any ideas.

| Hi freddie and welcome to the forum it sounds like you may have to configure your outlook express settings or pop3 settings you might also have to uninstall AVG and install the latest AVG version 7 also check this link http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;198704 Good Luck Wurz

I think AVG is your problem here.
It has been known to screw up on the e-mail front, but so have many other AV apps.
I'd uninstall AVG, check your e-mail then works, then reinstall it.
That usually does the trick.
If you still can't get your emails with AVG out of the way, post back here.

| cheers dave, i have just uninstalled avg and i now recieve mail. i will reinstall the latest version and see what happens. but not tonight. i will keep you posted
