Probably a goodish thought, but then where would that leave Amiga One and the already expense spent on development. They would want/need some return and probably want to keep it for themself. To my knowledge (I stand correctected if wrong) Amiga develop the Computer and own / develop the OS. Unlike PCs made by many and the OS by one?

It may be a bit of competition though like Linux?

having just read the ars technica review I am quite impressed by the new platform and OS kinda makes me think of the compactness and effecientsy of the nintendo wii. so yeah it would be a shame to waste all that effort. but still considering the rocky history of the amiaga it would be wise to have that as a backup plan. by the way does anyone know the name of the film i was refering to? it`s doing my head in now.

I liked the Idea of the amiga using the cell processor.

It realy caught my imagination. I thought this is the future.

Ive tryed to follow it up resently but it would appear the the ideas gone the way of the dodo.

heres a link to the only thing I know that uses the cell. WHY

The Lost Artifact is not lost. Why? Because I have it.

You could run Workbench on the PC via what was called "The Siamese Sytem" a network connection that was developed by a company called HiQ.

The only bit of decent info on it now is here: http://www.users.dircon.co.uk/~pnolan/siamese.html

One of the features was the ability to have a Windows desktop at 1024x768 and an Amiga Workbench window open at a resolution of 800x600 on the same desktop, with a game running in it with no performance hit to either the PC or Amiga.

'E' is for Ethernet. Used for catching Etherbunnies, Etherfish or Etherbutterflies.

No wonder there`s so much poop on my PC these days.

But, this is what throws the spanner in the works:

The Amiga O/S is primarily ROM based. The core of the O/S is actually stored on a ROM chip (later versions were flashable to allow updates), whereas Windows is purely disk based.

Now think about this. What would happen if the price of RAM fell to something stupid, like £1 per GB (wishfull thinking) and somebody out there developed a ROM Board that did for Windows what the Kickstart ROM did for Workbench?
