It came up with Mandriva and Kubuntu for me. I have used Mandriva before but not for very long and I've used SUSE which it never mentioned, but I've been on PCLinuxOS now for more than 6 months and have no intention of going back.

Do you think they know about PCLinuxOS?

It does state that PCLinuxOS is included in the test, but it hasn’t featured in any of the results when I’ve taken the test…
…I’ll keep messing

hi all
Kubuntu and mandriva
I use suse on desktop and kubunto on work laptop.

Is there another word for "synonym"?
Where do forest rangers go to get away from it all?
Why is the word "abbreviation" so long?

It said PCLinuxOS failed to meet these criteria: “May require Linux knowledge”.

Hmmm not too sure about that, perhaps on the partitioning side of things, but it seems quite newbie friendly to me…

Mandriva, Kubuntu or Ubuntu.

I wasn't sure at the technical skills level, as it could lead into more advanced pieces of Linux.

Which one is easier Kubuntu or Ubuntu?

FS - they are both basically the same, Ubuntu uses Gnome, Kubuntu uses KDE

Ubuntu. Kubuntu is rather less polished than Ubuntu and lacks the good configuration tools Ubuntu has.

The ‘test’ is marginally helpful.

Hey, I'd put it at a lot better than that. I had a little fun out of using it myself, but the main use I see for it is to direct newbies at, to slow down the "Which is the best Distro? Which is the best Distro?" noise that you sometimes get.

Know one guy who intermittently turned up to our LUG meeting, he'd ask which is the best distro, go away intending to try whatever was flavour of the month that month, and before he got round to trying it, say on average ~6 weeks, he'd get a new reccomendation of a distro he hadn't previously heard of, maybe from the LUG, maybe from the local Uni (or maybe a new release of one he already had). So what did he do? Well download that one, and repeat the cycle.

Not sure over 18 months he actually installed/tried to install much, but he got a good CD collection. At least this way he'd only have had two or three to vaccilate between!
