As it's getting to that time of year, I was wondering about your Christmas memories. Where you looking forward to getting a Commodore Amiga for Christmas, but did you end up with an Atari ST instead? Okay, this wouldn't be a complete disaster (I'm not saying that the ST was second best, honest!), but at the time if you had an ST, you'd mostly be on your own as the Mig was far more popular - at least that'd be the case where I'm from. You'd have to befriend the one Amstrad CPC owner. Erm... swiftly moving on!

So, come on then. You're favourite computing-related Christmas memories, from those GrandStand consoles to Pong machines through to fully blown computers or consoles.

Regards,

Shaun.

Ooo - around 1977 I bought one of the first D I Y kits available to play ping pong.

After hours of sweaty soldering, off it went (test of course).

My son and I then spent many happy hours batting the 'ball' back and forth, using a pile of AA sized batteries in the process.

Sadly, herself was not amused, as we only had one telly...

I have such fond memories of my Amiga days! As you say, the ST just wasn't quite as good a gaming machine. My friend had one and I always used to think it was ironic that considering they were popular in the sound/music industry (for it's midi ports), that sound effects 'n stuff were awful in games, and it was crap at scrolling too.

Before that I hounded my mother for a Sega Master System, and got the light gun pack. I used to secretly open the box before christmas to look at all the cool stuff inside!!
