I was browsing through the Retro Computer Mart pages and started reminiscing about a computer I used to play on when I was a kid.

Unfortunately all I can now remember is that it was a 'TANDY'. It had a keyboard and seperate tape player, both of different colours, and I'm positive it had its own monitor!

I used to play a game called "Cuthbert in the Jungle", oh and also, "Cuthbert goes Walkabout!"...

Has anyone else ever had a Tandy or played these games before?

D

Ps. Now I've got an excuse to clear out the loft as I'm sure it'll be up there somewhere....hmmm!

Wasn't Tandy a chain of shops?  Half way between Dixons and Maplins.

Yeah, we've got one in my town centre, but it was definitely a TANDY computer though!

Yeah I had a Tandy as my first PC. Can't remember a whole lot about it other than I couldn't get it to work very well. Not sure if that was because of the Wondows 3.11 or me being very new to PC's. Probably a mixture of both.

Come to think of it I didn't have a very good time with my second PC either. Must have been used to the Amiga and just inserting disks I guess.

Must of been the TRS80 mark 1 as the mark 2 and 3 were a little on the mac side

Tandy was the UK arm of the yanqui "Radio Shack" operation.

They had shops in most towns, usually close to the main shopping centre.

They did what Maplin now do, but Maplin does it better!

The TRS series sold well as the shop was usually staffed by keen types who could actually tell you more that the lot in PC well.

Below is a screen shot of the game "cuthbert in the jungle" or also known as "Trapfall"l, it loks very different to what I remember (lol)...
