The problem I have is my laptop has no way to put a network card in it so, as I see it, the only way to get online is either plug in an ethernet cable (kinda defeats the point of a laptop) or a USB wireless adaptor.

I have heard a great many times to stay away from these devises and get a dedicated network solution but in this case i can see no other alternative so...

Has anybody used a Belkin F5D7050uk and is it any good. Any other recommendations would be welcome but price must be less than about £20

I just stamped on my one of these by accident a minute ago, and to say im not bothered is an underestimate.

It was an absolute nightmare of a thing.

Is there really no pcmcia slot?
That's very unusual but I have seen it once.

I use Buffalo kit and their WLI-U2-KG54 (£16) isn't bad as these things go.
If you have got a pcmcia slot, I use the WLI CB G54S 3 (£17).

My computer has only ever been connected via the USB adaptor that came with the router. Works just as well as the machine that is connected directly to the router via ethernet.

This is just to say i am typing this via wireless. Belkin made an idiot proof start up cd...always useful.

My network speed is 36mbps which far out strips our internet even on the best of days.

Now to network my desktop and laptop so as to share files. Any help will be appreciated.

P.S. desktop is running ubuntu 6.10

I am on my 3rd one thanks to Belkins Lifetime warranty, They seem to break very easily - Even my latest one is cracked and is bent.
And god yes they are a nightmare - Maybe this is the belkin software but it was even worse with the belkin router, Least now I have a Netgear again
