Id read that sort of column more than an Amiga-only one probably.

+support for the idea!

Dont let it die though- it's one of the quirks that makes MM so unique.

Cheers,
Tom

I don't have an Amiga or any interest, but would hate to see the column vanish. Its part of the quirkiness and almost fanzine quality (In the nice sense of a mag with soul and attitude) that makes mm so appealing.

I have read with some interest the debate regarding the potential dropping of the amiga as a regular column.

Whilst I agree that the amiga in its day was a superb home computer and has many loyal followers that still use the machine to this day.

I do think we need to get this in perspective, rumours surrounding its rebirth in various disguises have failed to materialise. Sure a few boards turned up and the OS can be ported to other platforms.

At the end of the day its finished. I have no problem with i remaining in Micro Mart as I do like to skip a few pages and you can never please everyone with all the articles.

I do however feel that now years after the amiga was resigned to a cult following, it is time to clearly stamp it as retro and should perhaps form a significant part of a retro section.

Sometimes I do feel Micromart does struglle for articles and revisits or revamps articles.

There are a wealth of retro machine from a bygone age which I for one would love to read about. Most of these like the Amiga do deserve coverage and make interesting reading.

As such why cant we do the following.

4 pages,

one amiga related which is weekly.

One "what are you doing with your retro machine". readers encouraged to submit arcticles with pictures

one page Best retro games for a specific platform. different one each week. perhaps encourage web votes by system / game

one page for " the machine that time forgot" more obscure stuff - obscure dust gathering machines

Sven coverage of Amiga has been fantastic and I know im only one persion but i probably wont bother grabing Micro while waiting for the train any more to find out the latest on the soap opera that is Amiga - Maybe a new column including Atari St and other machines of similar natur could be cool but Micro mart will just end up like every other Pc mag -Also maybe not realy my cup of Tea but further coverage of Aros,MorphOs,Amithlon and X-Amiga Etc as alternative X86 OS Anyway if Sven does disappear -Very Best Wishe Sven!!!!

Isn't that a rather poor reason to stop buying?

From what I know, Sven will still get the odd bit in the magazine to talk about Amigas, but it won't be every issue.
I know a lot of you will disagree with me on this but the Amiga has had it's day for now, and it's a small enthusiast market, and I wouldn't be suprised if Sven struggles to find something to write about currently. But yes, I find it a good read, but being transformed into maybe a larger, less frequent position would be more beneficial?

Buying software from us [Microsoft] is like buying a music CD. You have the right to play the music, but you don’t “own” the music – the artist does. When you buy Microsoft software, you actually buy a licence that gives you the right to use the software.

I likewise agree, for a publication of nearly 200 pages..................its ridiculous to suggest you would stop buying it for half a page of amiga "news"

Yes keep the amiga to please the beardy grumblers, but keep it in context. Could have a big part in a retro section.

The amiga died years ago, sure it has its followers but then again so does every other retro machine.
