A post that is bound to cause amusement for various members of the forum.
I am one of the 161,00 that will no longer have the use of an EGG card after the 4th March.
Egg quoting condition 20.2 of the agreement as the reason for the withdrawal of the card.
20.2 We can end this Agreement at any time. We will normally give you 30 days' advance notice by post or email. However, if there are exceptional circumstances, or in any of the circumstances referred to in Condition 19.2, we may end this Agreement immediately and tell you about it afterwards, unless we are required by law to give you notice first. You can end it at any time by telling us to do so by post or email. In both cases, this Agreement will continue until you have repaid all amounts you owe us. .
It should be note that in 4 years of having the card I have never been late to pay,and only over limit once.
BU**ER IT!!

| I believe it's because you're not making them any money -- you're never late and don't rack up interest or charges. The banks are just plain greedy.

| I suppose that the bottom line is to use good old fashioned coin of the realm, plus stuffing your loot into an old sock under the mattress! That way, I may end up not standing in the supermarket queue waiting for some yoof to activate his credit card for a sandwich and a packet of crisps. Hmm. The second para should really be in rants, as another answer to a different post

| I received an EGG card some 5 years ago with the interest free option so I bought a new three piece suite with it. Paid it all off when due and haven't used it since - in fact I can't as I cut it in pieces. I'm not one of the 160K who are being chucked off unfortunately - EGG certainly haven't made a penny out of me in the past few years - so I'm not certain what criteria they are using now. I've actually now blocked off their e-mails. I think that Jason is probably right, so I personally look forward to their second cull in the hope they will include me but I certainly understand the difficulties their actions are causing decent people who pay off all immediately. I do that with my Goldfish card so all they get out of me is the cut from the retailer.

Well, your card from five years ago will now have expired, so if you've not received another one since, I would assume you're already off their lists.

Oh, you're giving them interest. An odd decision, then, for them to give you the elbow. I wonder what their game is?

I received my letter through the post yesterday too!
I only have a small credit limit, have never missed a payment but havegone over my limit on a couple of occasions. It doesn't really bother me as I was trying to pay off the card anyway, but I could see how it'd be a problem for some.
I'm sure it won't be long before other credit card companies follow suit.
