| Hello, There have been several interesting articles about the RIAA shenanigans, but what they dont say is exactly who is the RIAA. I would like to see a profile about who founded the RIAA, who they are answerable to and who is backing them. Thanks, Nick.

| Many years ago, they served a (to us) useful function, by getting manufacturers to agree on basic recording functions for music discs etc. (The famed RIAA recording curve), and other techie stuff. Over the years, the technical stuff has slowly vanished into the background, being replaced by a semi-political opeeration, much like the FAST lot (Federation Against Software Theft). So, just ignore them, as they only have sway in the US of A.

| Further to the other answers. If your into vinyl music on turntables, then a pre-amp to the RIAA spec (or curve) was the one to have for accurate reproduction. Later reproducers (like tape recorder/CD) came from Europe and America is not really interested in anything (unless they can make it their own)that does not originate from its shores
