| You claim that secret monitoring of emails is an "overload of Spooks" but try the following: Compose 2 emails but don't send them anywhere (save them as drafts as you write them) In the first email subject header write "Brown and Bush Assassination Attempt" but don't attach anything or put anything in the message body. In the second email write in the header "Dinner tomorrow" but again don't attach anything or put anything in the message body. Address them both to your hotmail account and send them to yourself at exactly the same time and see which one comes in first. A friend told me about this and when I tried it, the Brown and Bush one took 2 hours longer to come back, so somebody is reading our emails, although I am not sure who! Now that is Spooky.

| Ah yes, but naturally the Government spooks had already monitored and logged the original post and were waiting for you to do exactly that. As soon as you sent them, they were instantly traced and allowed through without hinderence to throw all of us off the scent. And of course they'll allow this one through as well to attempt to further hide what they are up to. (I only live about 1 mile from GCHQ, so if I get a knock on my door at 3 a.m. and disappear from the Forum indefinitely it will be all your fault) Or will they just set up a dedicated spook who's sole task is to make random and irrelevant postings to cover up my disappearence. Oh God, my brain hurts - I think I'll just go and take the blue pill

I love it when these subjects come up,it is always full of suggestion, hear say and most often wild conjecture, whilst it is true our communications have been monitored for a very long time at GCHQ it is not as straight forward as do A and then B and watch what happens,do you honestly believe that these people have access to equipment that is that sophisticated or reliable?,it is true that that certain words can trigger a reaction from certain government? offices, but they usually require a named subject/person and a known reciever and only then could you attract some sort of attention, most of these myths are usually generated from withing these departments,it is true that in the days of the IRA that phone calls made with certain sentances formed in a certain way by known individuals would be intercepted,it would be practically impossible to do the same today, purely because the difference between then and now is the sheer volume of information traffic,it was not that long ago that if you went to your local library and asked for a certain book you would then monitored/watched at home ,and this myth was about about long before the Xfiles or any other imaginative work was accepted as based on fact.Whilst here a point for Jason, reading you little box out today about how you dislike the pronunciation of the word routers, now there are lots words/expressions that I have a real hard time accepting, ask any one who joins me in online games and they all know how I refer to leaving for a toilet break,a forward slash of course, purley because I did not have a problem with the word stroke and no matter how hard I try I cannot find a real world use for the term backward slash anywhere outside of some very technical science subject, anyway my point is if the Americanism of the word router bothers you so why would you refer to your mother as mom??? as I have seen you do in your column,my mother is "me mam",my boys have a mummy, mom is as pure American as you can get. Had to edit, got lost in a thought there.

| I must admit I haven't tried it recently and when I did do it, it was a long time ago with the heading "Blair Bush Assassination attempt" and it did honestly take 2 hours for it to drop in my inbox. Perhaps as you say, volume and traffic has increased so much that it is totally unworkable now. Or maybe even that this sequence/myth? has been done that many times, that they have given up looking at them. Perhaps one of you could be a bit more controversial in the email and attach a word document to tempt them too - and try it again? Mind you, I'm not doing it, because if they come round and wake up my pregnant wife, the government can do nothing as painful as my wife would do to me! (A flat nuts situation will ensue!)

steve2306 (28/02/2008) anyway my point is if the Americanism of the word router bothers you so why would you refer to your mother as mom???Talking of which, perhaps someone can tell me what 'English US' is in MS Windows, Office etc? Next time MM talk to MS, perhaps you can remind them there is no such thing as 'English US', just the English language that they have butchered into slang!!! Gits.

mitchlambertuk (28/02/2008) perhaps someone can tell me what 'English US' is in MS Windows, Office etc? Most Americans think that they language they speak is "American", so MS puts "US" after "English" so that there is something recognizable for them to click on. (They probably read it as "us" rather than a short form of "USA")
