OK so I've been away for several months, in fact I've been to hell and back but that's not an issue for here.  I am back intermittently and will endeavour to reply to the couple of messages I have.

Anyway, onto my little query.....

After going to a 50th Birthday party on Saturday I've been given some video files of the event in an mp4 format.  Nero doesn't seem to recognise these.  So I dug out my old faithful conversion software, Xilisoft Video Converter, alas it can encode happily into various formats.  But the audio speed on playback seems to be double what it should be.  Giving me a nice chipmunks style audio that ends at exactly 50% of the files running time.  I can't see options that can alter this and have re encoded the files several times into various formats.  All I want is a cheap, easy way to get these files into a DVD format so that my colleague and his family can enjoy the event time and time again.

Any suggestions on how to get this sorted out?!

Unnamed New Rig: E4500 (Currently @2.6Ghz), Asus P5N32-E SLi Plus Lifestyle, 2Gb Corsair RAM (Speeds to be confirmed once OC has finished), 640Gb Spinpoint RAID0 Array, 2x XFX 8800GT Alpha Dogs in SLi, Thermaltake Toughpower 700W power supply, Antec 900 case

"Old Faithful" XP3000, 1gb cheapy RAM, Abit NF7(?), 180gb Deskstar, 8gb something old!, R9600XT (silent heatpipe design).  Going to give him a new lease of life by transplanting him into a shuttle case with some new parts and making a media centre unit.

...and if you still get nowhere, try MediaCoder... http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/. Something has to work eventually.

Cheers, Slipstreem.

System specs: "Phoenix" - Intel C2D E4500 overclocked to 3GHz with ACF7Pro HSF on Volt-modded ASRock 775Dual-VSTA mobo (modded BIOS rev 3.10A and VNB=1.65, Vagp=1.8), 2x1GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2-800 RAM (3.0,3,3,8,1T @546MHz), Sapphire ATI HD3870 512MB GDDR4 PCIe graphics card overclocked to 850MHz GPU & 2.4GHz RAM. Powered by Hiper Type-M 580W PSU. Guess who likes overclocking on a budget.

Any luck yet?

I'm wondering if the audio track may be a mono one tagged as stereo. It might then contain half the number of expected bits and play back at twice the speed for the same sample rate. You could try forcing the output to mono during the transcoding process and/or forcing a resample to half or twice (not sure which) of the input bitrate. Just a thought.

Cheers, Slipstreem.
