An article or a small regular section on Win 98, re what CPU's /motherboards/ programes are still available to us, as there are still a lot of users of Win 98 . The magazine runs small articles on other less popular O/S's. We seem to be forgoten with the race to newer/faster ??? O/S's. Not all of us want XP/Vista, and have to dispose of kit which works and serves us well.
I am still using a AMD K6-500, for office/imaging/general use, alongside(OmniCube 2 portKVM box) a AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (single core)dual booted with Win98 and Xandros (Xandros for internet use).

I remember 98se being ok so long as you had a decent third party roll back tool incase a software install trashed the system...

There was such a feature a little while ago. As for hardware, almost no modern motherboards support anything before XP, so 98 is a dead duck. Most software that runs on XP will also run on 98, however. What else needs to be said, really?

| Win 98 may be old, but the experience and knowledge of the readers/contributures would be invaluable to Win 98 users. Micro Mart runs articles about other OS's that are no longer mainstream (Amiga ,Retro Mart, ect), why not Win 98 . Not all of us can afford to scrap working kit, plus the cost of a new O/S with the possibility that our systems/kit will not run it, when we are happy with what we have and it works !!!.

Well, the other sections are really cover older *hardware* platforms, where Windows is Windows is Windows. As I say, most modern motherboards simply don't work with 98 (a lack of drivers), but most modern software will work just fine. It's okay by me that some users choose to stick with 98 (for whatever reason), but apart from the two points just mentioned, what else is there to say?

| Elsewhere in the magazine world, there are still articles on "How to tune your Stromberg carburreter", or "Tuning a Triumph Herald for economy". So, why not articles on hints and tips for 98, or even 95/Win3.x? Just a thought to counterbalance a thought!

Supply and demand, Jase. If it is asked for by some members, why not?
