| Hi All. Can anyone shed some light on the problem with my O.Livebox .Sometime ago i could not access the internet and called the Orange helpline, they told me to unplug the supply to the Livebox and this would reset my IP address, and low and behold it works but lately it is happening nearly everyday. I have been back to the helpline and they told me it was my network card, as it is onboard i bought a new one and put it in and yes the fault is still there. I've been back onto the helpline and they told me it is my IE loosing the IP addy and told me to reinstall IE7 ,like a good school boy i have done this and the problem is still there . Can anyone help please. Sorry for the long winded story

Sounds more like the router is the cause. You could try resetting it and going through the install process again.

They are talking a load of bolax.
IE has absolutely no influence over IP addressing whatsoever.
Next time they say that ask them to e-mail you with their reasoning behind it and post it here.
Should be good for a laugh
My money is on a dodgy Livebox.
Next time tell them you have spend £20 on new equipment following their dodgy advice and that you will be sending them the bill.

| It could be they've transferred you to another product eg llu ADSL or ADSL2+ If you look here, you should be able to tell under Connection Mode (to see which version of ADSL if it says 2+ you've been LLU) or upload 256 on ADSL Max is a sign of LLU if it were higher before. http://192.168.1.1/index2.html I had this and it took a few phone calls to get it right, the noise margin was far too high, for you it may be too low (should be above 6). They've also been doing some firmware updates, you'll see Digital TV as an option on the Router page. Which may have gone awry. I think it's very unlikely that its something you've done. Reboot the router, check the settings and phone the support team would be my advice. Good luck Jim

Your broswer, or any other software on the PC, cannot make a Livebox lose it's IP address.
To suggest otherwise is total nonsense.
Either the Orange kit in the exchange is at fault, there's a problem with the line or the Livebox is faulty.
Tinkering with IE will not solve this issue.

This isn't a recommendation of the following product, I've never used it, and will never buy it. Its just an illustration of what's out there which will be so much better than the orange kit:
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/132428
My advice is to dump the orange kit and get a router, the above is a no name brand but it costs less than Orange have already wasted of your money, trying to sort out their duff kit.

I'd still try resetting the router and running through it configuration again.
