I've experimented some more on the core affinity setting s and have updated step 16 as a result.

Cheers,

Keith.

I have set this all up as in the guide but now my Windows SMP takes 45 50 minutes to complete a step but the Ubuntu one is only taking 4 to 6 minutes! What can I do to speed up the Windows SMP folding?
I have checked and I'm not running out of ram, when I'm running the two SMPs I have about 675 Mb of ram "spare". Any ideas?

Thanks Hugh

Windows folding with the virtual OS running as well is ridiculous. It used to take me between 9 and 17 minuets to do a % but now it is taking me one hour and 50 minuets to do a %! How is this meant to increase my PPD? Any ideas on how to speed up the Windows folding would be appreciated.

Thanks Hugh

How much ram have you got in your machine, its highly likely that the GPU client is hogging one of the cores so that the windows SMP is sat idling whilst waiting for the slowest SMP thread to complete.if you've got more than 2GB of ram try running two linux VM 's and the gpu client. Remember, that the guide is aimed at most points per day  excluding the GPU client.

something seems amiss for your VM to be flying through a WU and the windows SMP to be so slow.

what does your windows swap file usage look like?. Is it heavy?. I'll have a look on my visya machine when i get home for the settings i am asking about.

edit  CTRL-ALT-DELETE to get to task manager then performance tab then resource monitor button and see how many memory hard faults you get

Cheers,

Keith.
