I am surprised that no-one has posted about me "hoisted on my own petard" etc
even though the court HAS actually decided that 1.The charges are enforceable(score 1 for the banks). and 2.The charges are subject to the "unfair terms act" (score 1 for the people)
No mention,indeed thats not what the case was about(despite what the Daily Mail says)of the charges being unfair!
That all comes much later...expect something from the Banks around late May.
Remember the Ark was built by amateurs.The Titanic was built by professionals.

| I don't know about the "score 1 for the banks". From what I've read (which isn't much), all that's left is for the OFT to decide if the charges are indeed unfair (now that the courts have established that the charges are covered by unfair-contract law). Seeing that it was the OFT that brought the matter to the courts in the first place, it seems unlikely they'll say that the charges *are* fair. So, apart from the banks' appeal (which could well turn things on their head, as so often happens), it seems done and dusted. The "people" have won. That was always the correct result, at least from a moralistic point of view, but with the banks in so much fiancial difficulty now (largely at their own hands), I thought maybe they'd be let off the hook.

Just been reading the Mail (it's the paper of this thank you very much  ) and interestingly a fair number of these banks have seemed to have reduced these charges.....Funny that?

Martin Lewis????......don't need some jumped up ex-newsreader to tell me how to save money. Common sense really....you DON'T get anything for nothing. No such thing as a FREEBIE. No I don't want a "holiday" from paying my bank loan...especially when you are still charging interest during the holiday...same applies to a mortgage....and so called "cashback".....most of the stuff is obvious, and when you read it properly REALITY kicks in......
