Is there any love for this game? I rememeber when the original Kick Off came out...what a breath of fresh air! (I only had Kenny Dalglish's
soccer match before that! lol).
But Kick Off 2 and Player Manager was stunning games! ahhh, the rivalries between this and Sensible Soccer eh?
If truth be told I gravitated over to SWOS because thats where the newer updates were coming from, but last year I found out that people still play Kick Off 2!
www.ko-gathering.com
They'v also ironed out some of the more stupid bugs, whilst still keeping the classic playability. Not sure if its nostalgia, but playing this with its fast pace and lush green pitch...I dunno, newer games just leave me cold!
As I said, I only joined the forum last year but already I'v made a load of friends. I'v even attended a few tournaments - mostly in Birmingham and Reading area.
Would be great if some fans are here so we can talk about the classic game. Its even possible to have a 2 player online, but local
tournaments round peoples houses are where the actions at. Pizza, Booze and Excitement - there's even an online rankings system in place, so if you ever fancied yourself the No.1 KO2 player...well, now is your chance to actually prove it.
Whilst we'v organised a 5 a side plus meal on the Saturday. To try and encourage more people to attend, the actual competition part of the
UK Champs is now being held on a Sunday (4th May infact). It's being held at the Holiday Inn on Junction 2 of the M5...you can literally see the motorway from the Hotel its that close.
This will also be the only major Kick Off tournament in the UK this year so if you'v wondered what it's all about then please dont hesitate to come!
So we can get an idea for numbers it would be much appreciated to post in this thread:

We'r really hoping that we can show all the overseas fans what a tournament in the United Kingdom is really about!!

Interesting developments are happening!! Steve Screech may be attending! He is the guy that worked on the game back in the day!

If you come Shaun I'll buy you a B'Day cake hehe
The great thing about this tourney is that it involves a few die hards, but it mostly consists of people who have never played it before or people who havent played it in ages.

Shaun.Bebbington (30/04/2008) I'd love to attend, however the 4th is my birthday, and I'm not sure that I'm very good at Kick Off ;-)
Hi Shaun,
Give yourself a birthday treat and come!
My first tourney was UK Champs 06... I was unsure about going too - but I was impressed by how I was made to feel apart of things - and I haven't looked back since! First and foremost, its about having a laugh with friends who share an affection for the great game that is Kick Off 2.
If you've got any questions, just drop me a pm or email kickoff2@blueyonder.co.uk
Cheers
Garry

Hiya folks
I know a few people expressed an interest in the 2008, Kick Off 2 UK Champs so I thought I’d make you guys aware as to what happened and what’s in the pipeline in the future!
The tournament did indeed rock and it was one of the most exciting finale’s I’ve ever witnessed with it going right down to the wire. In the end it was decided on goal difference. But more important than that, everyone had a cracking time whether they were playing Kick Off, enjoying free Tea’s, Coffee’s and Cappucino’s or simply kicking back and chilling out in the lobby area (just outside tournament room) where the football was being played on 2 Plasma’s.

Hope you enjoy reading and watching what went on. Remember, although the 2008 UK Champs is over for another year that’s certainly not the end of Kick Off this year…infact, it’s only the beginning.
There will still be regular tournaments in the UK as well as over Europe. As I’v said before, if you want to enjoy Retro Gaming, Amiga’s and/or simply having a laugh with like minded people then you’l have a fantastic time.
As well as the UK, other countries have their own tournaments too…

There’s also a fun initative to get a UK player to win the World Cup: http://ko-gathering.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=14803
Finally, here’s the biggie…the 2008 World Cup in Athens. If you’v always wanted to go travelling but the cost has always deterred you, then do what I do…attend a KO2 World Cup for 2 days but then stay in the country for a few days or more after. Means you get low cost accommodation plus play a fantastic computer game too. Then you can do what you want after
