Hi

My brother brought me a coupld of Mini DVD';s from his holiday and some pictures from a wedding while over there. He wanted it all on one Dvd for people to look at.

I used Nero vision on three different computers and they all crahed several times at different points during creation.

Does anyone know a free program that can create this DVD for me with menu etc.

Thanks in advance.

Hi columbo77
Seeing as you have had no takers, here's my four pennyworth, in case it helps.

I'm still looking for free video edit and DVD production in Linux and have found avidemux. and kino etc, but haven't played with them yet. Genuinely free and actually functional software may exist for Windows but I haven't found that yet. By genuinely free, I mean no time limits or actual payments to achieve practical functionality. By actually functional, I mean software that doesn't need upgrading or 'patches' to make it function properly. The cheapest and surprisingly effective new commercial software appears to be Magix Photos and Video on CD and DVD, although cluttered with advertising add-ons etc. An old friend of mine produces some amazing DVDs with it, complete with sophisticated titling and still picture effects etc, but doesn't often include video clips.
If you can get hold of a copy of Ulead DVD Moviefactory 2, PLUS the essential three download patches to fully activate it, that'll probably be the cheapest way to go. Who knows, someone may be throwing it out in favour of fancier versions !
(As to Nero Vision, it all depends upon which precise version/suite, and it DOES need its companion Showtime, properly installed, to code properly.)

I will download the linux ones tonight hopefully they will be in apt-get. I will check out Ulead, I am sure I have a bundled copy somewhere?

How are you copying them with Nero?

Are you ripping them from the DVDs first, or copying them to the computer? What's the file type from the mini DVDs?

If you cannot afford a commercial programme . Then it might be an idea to try  the VCD format?

VCD uses MPEG1  and is extremely rugged and reliable  IE it will play on absolutely anything at all . No flapping about wondering if the DVD will play in somebody elses player, IT WILL PLAY! Plus your computer  will have no issues (unless its running like a pig anyway) in making the disc because its less processor intense

you can use an ordinary CD disc and get an hours worth of movies on it with a menu.

The downside is the quality is not as good as DVD,and its only two track stereo sound, but if your watching on a 19' computer screen then the quality is not really an issue.
