Sir Tom you've hit the nail on the head I feel.
Even after your clear explanation, someone has decided to use it as a chance to claim that the Apple users here are trying to "preach" to those who don't use Macs. That's nonsense! And anyone who reads any of the recent threads on here will realise that. Though they don't want to admit it.
It's a real shame because this could be a great forum and a real help to those looking for it but as it stands it's clear that there are too many of the members here that are narrow minded and not concerned with addressing peoples questions but rather prefer to pursue their own agenda.
Quite a sad situation. We wonder why there's no peace in the middle east etc, and people can't even get on with someone who uses a different computer. Pathetic.

The original link was interesting, despite the barrage of third party cookie links (a good reason for using FF3). Apart from conferring status by 'looking cool', Macs seem to get used for researching concepts that aren't as easy with other systems. They seem to be expensive because you have to pay for all that prior work, made a little easier for Apple by actually controlling hardware as well as software build-standards. The audio digression provided another revelation for my post-stroke memory recovery. Thanks to previous Slippy exchange I have recalled how I flirted with basic MP3 and WMA before trying Xing and settling on 192 MP3PRO re-coding of my CD collection, which my car's MP3 player and Creative devices have coped well with. For a portable device, I now prefer Archos, which can also play MP4 movies on its little screen.
This thread's audio revelation was understanding why folk stand back in awe when listening to my Archos, they have all simply got used to simpler to use, cool-looking, but poorer audio quality devices ! (Thinks, must talk about all this with my godson, he's a Mac systems professional !)

Well done Bruce R! You got the thread back on topic whilst acknowledging the other (albeit off-topic) points that have been made re-mp3's.

Slipstreem (05/05/2008)
There's no such thing as mp3. It's MP3.
Cheers, Slipstreem.
Oh! That explains why if you search google for mp3 you don't get any results (go on give it a try!) hang on...there's no such thing as 'google' either it's Google what am I thinking!
